Salata Tahini

What isn’t made better by having tahini draped over it?  Not much.  This is my favourite Salata Arabia with a delicious tahini saucy dressing mixed into it.  Excellent with meat and rice dishes.


4 plump tomatoes, diced

¼ red onion, finely diced

1 small cucumber, diced

Juice of ½ lemon

Extra virgin olive oil


2 tbsp tahini

A few tbsp water



Mix the tomato, cucumber and onion

In a separate bowl mix the tahini sauce by blending the tahini, lemon, water, salt and some olive oil

When the tahini sauce is combined into a smooth and lose sauce pour it over the chopped salad and mix well

    I wish I’d seen this the other day. We had some chicken pieces roasted with sumac, allspice, cumin, cinnamon and red onion and a salad to go with it, but even with pomegranate and fried pitta bits the salad was missing something – and this is it!
